A lot had changed for Adonis since his sire and Jordan had died. He and Piper were no longer at each other's throats and in fact, he looked out for her far beyond what she probably realized. And, instead of playing the good game, he had returned to his old roots and had made moves to take over the Underworld.
At first, he'd looked out for her because he knew David would want him to but now, after everything they had been through, it was because he wanted to.
And he had people that he trusted to look out for her when he couldn't.
Namely Nick.
While losing Jordan and David had hit him hard, he had found a kindred spirit with Nick and was glad that somehow through the years, he'd found a worthy Second in Command and partner. And someone who was just as much of a hedonist and as wicked as he was.
He turned off the phone after she hung up with an amused smirk and picked up his glass. "She hasn't caught on to you yet," he says, watching Nick for a moment before tossing back the rest of the contents.
"I wonder if we need to work on her awareness sometime..."
Though the days of training her and Jordan were far behind them, there was always room for improvement, if you asked him.
"Anything new to report," he asks, taking a moment to look him over before offering up the bottle. "Drink?"
